Kocobelo: Winner of Crea en Panamá 2021

By Serena Rinaudo · · 2 min read

In 2021, Kocobelo was recognized as one of fewer than 100 outstanding businesses in the "Crea en Panamá" program, an initiative of Panama's Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) and the City of Knowledge Foundation (Fundación Ciudad del Saber) that sought to strengthen and support the country's creative and cultural industries.

This program, carried out in collaboration with the European Union and UNESCO, received more than 3,000 applications from Panamanian entrepreneurs. Only 1,200 were selected for initial training, and fewer than 100 businesses made it to the final stage and were recognized. For Kocobelo, this award represents an endorsement of our mission to blend art, fashion and sustainability, bringing Panama's cultural essence to every design.

🌎 What Is "Crea en Panamá"?

The "Crea en Panamá" program was born as part of the "Crea en Panamá 2030" strategy, with the goal of boosting the country's creative economy. Its main focus is to strengthen projects in design, handicrafts, fashion, gastronomy, music and other cultural sectors, promoting innovation and entrepreneurship.

✔ More than 3,000 entrepreneurs applied to the program.
✔ 1,200 were selected for training in business and digital marketing.
✔ Fewer than 100 businesses received awards, including Kocobelo.

This recognition reaffirms our commitment to sustainable design and Panamanian identity, setting us apart among the most innovative projects in the country.

🎨 Kocobelo: Innovation and Culture in the Creative Industry

From the very beginning, at Kocobelo we have worked on creating cultural souvenirs and sustainable tropical fashion, inspired by Panama's natural and artistic richness. Being part of "Crea en Panamá" allowed us to:

✨ Access specialized training in cultural and digital entrepreneurship.
✨ Connect with a network of entrepreneurs and experts in the creative industries.
✨ Strengthen our vision of sustainability and circular economy in fashion and design.

Our work seeks to be not just a commercial brand, but also a movement that champions art, design and ecological awareness.

🚀 The Impact of "Crea en Panamá" on the Future of Local Design

Panama's Ministry of Culture, with the support of the European Union and UNESCO, continues to work on developing public policies and funding for creative entrepreneurs.

📌 "Crea en Panamá 2030" seeks to consolidate the creative industries as a driver of economic and cultural growth in the country.

Thanks to this recognition, at Kocobelo we will keep betting on creativity and sustainability, offering products that tell stories, inspire and highlight the beauty of Panama.
